In the 1970s, George was trying to get Star Wars made.

Of course, we know how much of a monster hit that film would become. But at the time, studio executives were very wary of Lucas’s sci-fi epic.

Still, 20th Century Fox took the risk…

But they were very wary about giving Lucas the $8 million he needed to make the movie.

That wariness almost led to them pulling out. But in a move that saved his film, Lucas accepted a much lower salary so he could dedicate more of the budget to filming.

The move paid off.

The first Star Wars movie made over $775 million around the world.
